Explore/Investigate
Digital Music is a distance/blended learning course which means that the bulk of what you'll do will be online. Because of this, students must become accustomed to communicating clear ideas through written responses and sharing those ideas via the web. Each unit presented will be formatted the same; five sections- Wonder, Explore/Investigate, Communicate, Create and Reflect.
Learning to navigate this program will be crucial to your success not only in this course but also throughout your entire academic career.
Communicate
Digital Music is a distance/blended learning course which means that the bulk of what you'll do will be online. Because of this, students must become accustomed to communicating clear ideas through written responses and sharing those ideas via the web. Each unit presented will be formatted the same; five sections- Wonder, Explore/Investigate, Communicate, Create and Reflect.
- The "Wonder" section presents the overall theme of the unit. These questions are open ended, short answer questions that may have more than one correct answer, depending on the unit. You will always take a pretest in this section as a means to later measure your understanding and growth.
- In the "Explore/Investigate" section, you will engage in discovering content and skills necessary to better answer the questions from the Wonder section. You may be required to read articles, explore websites and watch video tutorials. To ensure comprehension, you may encounter a "checkpoint". These checkpoints, or short quizzes, are designed to ensure that you have grasped the important concepts and are ready to move forward.
- The "Communicate" section is a space for classmates to post their thoughts on a particular subject. The teacher will provide several writing prompts. Some prompts are fact based. Some prompt are for opinions. You will be required to discern between the two (fact vs. opinion) and type a response accordingly. Responses should be at least 100 words in length. In addition to posting your own response, you will be responsible for reading and replying to two of your classmates. These responses should be at least 25 words in length and should also be relevant to the primary post.
- The "Create" section is where most students will spend the most of their time. Here, an assignment will be outlined. You will spend between 2-5 classes to complete the task and submit your assignment.
- Lastly, is the "Reflect" section. In this final section you will contemplate your academic process. This section is perfect for candidly communicating your feelings to the teacher. Reflections will always be typed, printed and submitted. They should also adhere to the format provided. In addition to completing a reflection, you will also complete a post test
Learning to navigate this program will be crucial to your success not only in this course but also throughout your entire academic career.
